Three ways to set up a US Apple account — pick the method that works best for you
A US Apple ID gives you access to the full US App Store, which has the widest selection of apps, games, and services. It's also required to redeem US Apple Gift Cards. The good news: creating one is completely free, even if you live outside the United States.
Create your account at appleid.apple.com. Works from any device with a browser.
Create directly in Settings on your Apple device. Most convenient if you're on iOS.
Use the App Store on macOS or iTunes on Windows to create your account.
This is the simplest method and works on any device — iPhone, Android, PC, or Mac.
Visit appleid.apple.com/account in your browser.
Use a different email address from your existing Apple ID. Any email works — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. Set Country/Region to United States.
Apple will send a verification code to your email and a text to your phone. International phone numbers work fine — you don't need a US number.
On iPhone/iPad: go to Settings > App Store, sign out of your current account, then sign in with your new US Apple ID. When asked for payment, select "None".
Apple needs a US billing address. You can use any valid US address — for example, a hotel or public business. Make sure the zip code matches the state (e.g., 90210 for Beverly Hills, CA).
Tip: You can switch between your regular Apple ID and your US Apple ID anytime. Just sign out and sign back in through Settings > App Store. Your existing purchases and data are not affected.
1. Go to Settings > your name > Sign Out (sign out of your current Apple ID)
2. Go to Settings > App Store > Create New Apple ID
3. Select United States as your country
4. Complete the form, choose "None" for payment, and enter a US address
5. Verify your email and you're done
1. Open the App Store (Mac) or iTunes (Windows) and sign out of your current account
2. Try to download any free app — it will prompt you to sign in or create an account
3. Click "Create New Apple ID" and select United States as your store
4. Choose "None" for payment method and enter a US address
Once your US Apple ID is ready, redeem an Apple Gift Card to add funds:
1. Open the App Store
2. Tap your profile icon
3. Tap "Redeem Gift Card or Code"
4. Enter the code from your Jerry Cards email
Your balance is added instantly and you can start downloading apps and subscribing to services.
